Japanese Ambassador Masato Otaka was quoted by The Nation on 19/1109 as being optimistic the court would hand down a positive verdict to investors.
While the legal process continues, the government has appointed a four-member commission, under the chairmanship of Anand Panyarachun, Chairman of Siam Commercial Bank, to work out long-term measures.
Siam Cement Group is a major investor in Map Ta Phut.
Kasit misled the nation

In his Nation column of 23/11/09 M R Pridiyathorn Devakula, a former Finance Minister and a former Governor of Bank of Thailand, accused Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya of misleading the nation on Thailand’s Memorandum of Understanding with Cambodia, signed during the time when Dr Thaksin Shinawatra was Prime Minister.
M R Pridiyathorn referred to an article published in Matichon on 16/11/09, which gave details of the MoU, and statements made by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Kasit threatening to revoke the said MoU, with Kasit saying that the revocation was necessary because the MoU was negotiated and signed during Thaksin’s administration. It allowed Thaksin to know all the inside story and important clauses in this MoU. Such comprehension, Kasit alleged, would enable Thaksin to give advice to Thailand’s disadvantage and directly impact the negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia under the framework of the MoU. This story line was also toed by Dr Panithan Wattanayakorn, deputy secretary-general to the prime minister, which made it more believable, said M R Pridiyathorn.
PAD’s support base

A reader of Bangkok Pundit, Aladdin, has analysed the reason why PAD was such an effective political force between 2005 and 2008. He says it was because of the covert support of a “certain group of people”. But this support was based on a tacit agreement that PAD leader Sondhi Limthongkul would not publicly reveal the source of this support because it would seriously violate a certain democratic convention that is accepted internationally.
If that source of support were to be seen publicly to be violating that convention it would be very dangerous for it in terms of its international image. If the international image of the “certain group of people” were seriously damaged that, in turn, would be extremely dangerous for it in terms of its domestic political support. The very existence of this “group of people” depends on secrecy and public relations, says Aladdin.

Atiya Achakulwisut, Editorial Pages Editor of Bangkok Post, has criticized General Sonthi Boonyaratkalin’s assumption of the leadership of a political party.
In a commentary on 24/11/09, Atiya said: “If political scientists are correct in their estimate, General Sonthi Boonyaratkalin already set Thailand at least 12 years back with the coup he led – a disastrous transgression against democracy.
“Thailand is still reeling from the consequences of the general’s act, with no end in sight.”

วันนี้ครบรอบ 365 วันหรือ 1 ปีที่พันธมิตรเข้ายึดสนามบินโดยการช่วยเหลือของทหาร พอรัฐบาลขณะนั้นออกคำสั่งให้ทหารเข้าไปจัดการก็ใบ้รับประทานประเทศเสียหาย
จนป่านนี้ไม่มีอะไรเกิดขึ้น ชาวนาปิดถนนต่างจังหวัดถูกจำคุก 6 เดือน ถือว่าเป็น2 มาตรฐานที่หน้าด้านที่สุด ปปช.ถูกยื่นให้หยุดงานตามรัฐธรรมนูญก็เฉย
แถมยังนั่งห้ำหั่นซีกเดียวตลอดเวลา แล้วจะหาความสงบได้อย่างไรครับป๋า ความยุติธรรมเป็นเงื่อนไขสำคัญของความสันติยิ่งแกล้งยิ่งบื้อ เสื้อแดงยิ่งเยอะ
Thaksin ready for talks

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra told the Singapore Straits Times in an interview in Cambodia: “I want this war ended on the negotiation table. I want to see Thailand as one nation.”
Would he compromise? “I avail myself for compromise all the time,” he replied without hesitation.
Asked what he would bring to the table, he became animated, saying: “Whatever. They are in power. Why don’t they offer? We are ready to talk.”
He also said it might take someone “outside the system” to bring about a compromise.

Rail rescue plan ‘doomed to fail’

A new restructuring plan for the State Railway of Thailand, agreed in principle by the government on 17/11/09, will not get the debt-ridden state enterprise out of the red, analysts say.
The plan would divide the railway agency into three business units – operations, maintenance and asset management – and one subsidiary running the Airport Rail Link project.
It is a change from the previous version agreed by the Cabinet on June 3 which would set up two subsidiaries to run the state enterprise.
The revision was made to take account of pressure by the railway union which feared the government would eventually sell the two subsidiaries to the private sector, said Bangkok Post.

สวัสดีครับพี่น้องที่เคารพ พบกันเช่นเคยทุกวันอังคาร 20.30-21.30 น. เอาเรื่องราวที่พบเห็นมาเล่าเพื่อให้เห็นว่าโลกไปตรงไหนบ้าง เอาเป็นว่าผมรอดตายกลับมาจากกัมพูชาแล้วครับ ที่บอกว่ารอดตายกลับมานั้นมีเรื่องเหลือเชื่อ ที่ผมเดินทางไปเสียมเรียบ มีข่าวกรองแจ้งว่ารัฐบาลได้ย้ายเอฟ-16 จากโคราชมาไว้ที่อู่ตะเภา ก็แปลกดี ตอนหลังรู้ว่ามีประชุมยุทธการด้วยว่า ถ้าเครื่องบินผมบินผ่านน่านฟ้าไทยให้ไปจี้ลงมา ถ้าไม่ฟังก็ยิง
